How To Cook Bulanglang (Law-oy) Filipino Food Style

Bulanglang (Law-oy) is one of the healthy dishes commonly found in the Philippines. It consists of different types of vegetables mixed together in a pot. There are many different types of Bulanglang as well as its name depends on the region. Bulanglang comes from the version and names in Batangas. Preparing this dish is very easy and convenient to cook. Boiling water in a pot and add vegetables according to its cooking time.
This dish might be considered as the healthiest Filipino soup to offer. It offers variants of vitamins and minerals because of the different vegetables. Cooking this dish can be also added a different kind of meat such as fish, chicken or pork it will depend on your taste or preferences.

Listed below are the ingredients and procedure on how to cook Bulanglang.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup pork belly, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup shrimps, deveined
  • 1/3 medium-sized butternut squash, peeled and cubed
  • 1 bundle string beans, sliced
  • 2 pieces eggplant, sliced
  • 10-15 pcs okra, sliced
  • 4 cups of rice wash/plain water
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 4 pcs tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons bagoong alamang (fermented shrimp paste) or sea salt freshly ground black pepper oil
Instruction/Procedure:

1. In a pot add oil and pork then cook until brown and crispy. 
2. Remove the pork and put water bring it to boil
3. Add garlic and onion and sauté for a minute
4. add tomatoes and sauté until it becomes soft.
5. Add okra and string beans, stir fry for about 2 minutes.
6. Add butternut squash and eggplants and stir fry for a minute.
7. Pour in rice wash/ water and bring to boil
8. Then add the shrimps and bagoong, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes or until vegetables are cooked.

9. Season with freshly ground black pepper then serves and enjoy.
